Let’s keep going with our Baldur’s Gate Charts: Wyll, coming at you – loveable folk hero, the Blade of Frontiers.
Voted on by folks at Tumblr, for him to be the next to get the treatment.
Now this is going to be based on pure vibes only. I’m going to try to keep this as accurate as possible based on orbits.
I will also go in to some of the aspects that I think the Duke has, and other little aspects hiding out at the end.
There will be spoilers- so if you haven’t played the full game, or romanced Wyll. You may not want to read further, as there will be some slight spoilers waiting for you around the corner.
I ranksacked my way through all of the parsed dialogue and my brain is dead. But here we are. With Baldur’s Gate Charts: Wyll.
Others in this series

“The Coast needs the Blade”

Wyll- Charismatic. Enigmatic. Good natured. Passionate about what he does. I think our man is a Sagittarius sun.
Looking at his story and how it’s written in game you have a seventeen year old young man, who heard that his city was in danger and just bolts. Immediately hands over his soul to Mizora, the moment he finds the cult of Tiamat is banging on Baldur’s Gate’s door. Puts his whole self into saving the city- and then. When asked by his father to leave- he does. And takes it as an opportunity to grow.
He took the next seven years of his life out dedicating himself to the world. He’s been to the Underdark, all over the Sword Coast. He’s open minded, willing to learn, keep his mind open.
When presented with killing Karlach, he knows that something is off when it comes to killing her. If he does go through with it (unless prompted by the player) he feels guilty because his mind was opening up to something new. In the Dev notes it even says he’s doubting his conviction- which is a trait of the Sagittarius.
Looking something in the mouth, and trying to understand it before falling through with your mind.
“In the frontiers, there is no posturing, no diplomacy. I slay monsters, I don’t consort with them.”

“It’s because you know the heart lurking under the horns”

Wyll is a Libra moon. No surprise there.
He’s level headed, and does his best to think through a situation before mitigating it. Most of his disapprovals happen when you don’t take a diplomatic approach or take someone for their word. There’s also not helping people get the justice that they deserve or when you just do evil acts- that’s Libran energy to a tee.
Yet, looking through his parsed dialogue- there is so little that actually gets Wyll to go off on you. Even when you break up with him he’s like “Yeah, no, I get it, best of luck-“. But the Dev notes, say he’s heartbroken. Or if you break up with him after his act III romance scene (I believe), his stomach drops. But he doesn’t say it to your face.
That’s Libra in a nutshell. Fast to fall in love, and hold on to them dearly. Knowing how you truly feel, but in effort to avoid a confrontation smile through it. He’s a Libra moon through and through.
“But I gained his virtues, too. Courage. Insight. A just heart. A strategic mind.”

“When I look into a mirror, I see two faces”

He is a Leo rising, and no one can convince me otherwise.
You see the thing with Leo, is that even if they like to be center stage, they have a strong sense of justice. Which Wyll certainly has. He’s The Blade of Frontiers. People call him a hero, a prince- he’s perceived as a strong confident leader. He surrounds himself with likeminded people, those who share his values, he tries to lift the world by taking an active role in it. The fact that he has his own hero pose points to his theatrical dramatics.
He holds up the mirror of this hero image to everyone he comes into contact with and then when he’s transformed into a devil for not killing Karlach- he gets upset that he doesn’t look like the hero he’s acclaimed as.
Yet when he realizes that people still see him as the hero he is. He falls right back into who he knows he’s meant to be the Blade of Frontiers (or Avernus- should you choose).
Man’s is a Leo rising through and through.
“The Blade of Frontiers. An old name for a new man. “

“And this I promise: you can always look to me.”

I believe will to have a Capricorn Mercury. When he talks it’s straight on- he means to tell you something, and it’s important.
Capricorn mercuries are pretty straight to the point, and they don’t have any needs for talking about something for no particular reason. Each time Wyll brings up a parable, a story, something he’s experienced- it’s because it has a direct point that he’s getting to and he wants to make sure that you have the full scope of what he’s saying.
Capricorn mercuries are the type to ensure you are fully understanding their words in the direct context and tone of what they mean not wanting anything missed or misunderstood. They’re also very down to earth when they talk, they talk in realities, not hypotheticals.
And Wyll gives that energy. When he says something (aside from a joke) he means it. Genuinely. There’s no two ways about what he’s saying no other interpretations, he’s not hiding anything from you (or in the case of before knowing about the Pact and Mizora- he has to for good reason).
“I had but one road I could travel. For now you have a dozen, a hundred, a thousand even to choose from. A road that leads to a devil is the very last one you should follow.”

“…But Wyll Ravengard belongs to you”

It’s pretty clear to me that Mr. Loverboy Wyll Ravengard is a Venusian native with Libra.
He’s old fashioned, the dancing, the courting, the fast to fall in love. He even proposes before end game. He loves with his whole being his whole heart and Libra wouldn’t have it any other way. Unlike their sister sign Taurus, Libra’s also about the smaller (not as luxe) things that you receive in love- I mean the acorn? Come on.
They’re all for love, Wyll is too- enough so that he reads trashy romance novels. He wants someone to go old and gray with, someone to have by his side, someone to dance with until the sun stops shining. His forever, and that is the true mark of a Libra Venus.
“You are my yesterday, my today, and my tomorrow. “

“‘Smiting evil’ is my middle name.”

I believe Mr. Ravengard is an Aquarius Mars.
He has a righteous fury, he stands up for the little guy, he smites, and protects for everyone no matter their background. Willing to protect and serve the people of the Coast. Plus- I can’t think of anything more unconventional than hopping around with five wildly different people (six with Tav/Durge), and still managing to mostly stay on all of their good sides to vanquish evil. Remember how I said that he’s not the type to actually get angry either?
Another trait of the Aquarius Mars in play- he will sit and tell you why what you did hurt him- and he’ll do it mostly without cussing you out for it. Just try to cut you a deal.Try to bring about justice for the people around him. For the people you wronged. If you can’t be made to see reason, well then- need I remind you of his entrance to the game? “Provoke the Blade, and suffer it’s sting.”
A true Aquarius Mars.
“Hunt the monsters of the Sword Coast, protect the people – that was my promise”

“The faith that matters is that which you hold in yourself”

Wyll doesn’t have just one planet in their prime- oh no, no he’s got two. Wyll is a Sagittarius Jupiter.
Sagittarius Jupiter has such strong morals, and convictions in their own personal philosophies. Wyll, has been taught the four pillars and has them ingrained into his head. Courage. Insight. Strategy. Justice.
And he is always growing on these principals. In his parables and stories he tells you about. They were recited by his father, through his own lived experience. Times where he has taken away from one of the pillars, or gained information somehow to make himself more strongly convicted in his own beliefs. He wants to be something, go somewhere, and do something right by the people. Most of this is motivated by those morals, and honestly it’s what I would expect from a Sagittarius Jupiter.
He knows nothing lasts forever, so he wants to do his best to live as deeply as he possibly can, to the most extreme points of his own philosophy and morals. Allowing Jupiter to lead him down the path of righteousness.
Both have a fundamental understanding of where the other wants to go in life. While Gales will lead him to libraries, and the vast course of study at home. Experiencing his new comforts from relative safety- Wyll will be bringing himself to those horizons to cross them when the time comes.
“Better I live fully and meaningfully than to pine for an always-and-forever I could never achieve.”

“Fear is what you feel, courage is what you do.”

Now. Wyll, has one planet in detriment. That would be here. His Saturn.
He is a Leo here as well.
One of the things when it comes to having a Leo in Saturn is it points to daddy issues. Like strong ones. Especially growing up, and Wyll more than anyone talks about his father, and how his father disowned him, disavowed him, exiled him. Which in truth turned out to be the best thing that could’ve happened for him (Wyll’s own words). But his mind is constantly lost on his father, and if he thinks about him, wonders if Ulder has wondered what he’s made of himself, and if he would be proud of what he sees today.
Another thing that I see prevalent in the Blade is he is very humble about his own shit. He tends to downplay his accomplishments, and give humble brags. Like, dude you’re twenty-four and could probably 1 vs. 1 anyone in the party and win. Faced down the cult of Tiamat- but he plays it off as not a big deal.
Over time and facing through the rules and regulations of Leo in Saturn leads to a very effective, and understanding leader, prideful, but not boastful. Stern in their logic and thinking, but overall just in their choices.
“Every choice an impossible one, every consequence unknown”

“A hero is not just – he is justice. He is not courageous – he is courage“
Overall suffice it to say, but Wyll’s placement leads to the overall hero that one sees in different portrayals throughout history.
Over time and facing through the rules and regulations of Leo in Saturn leads to a very effective, and understanding leader, prideful, but not boastful. Stern in their logic and thinking, but overall just in their choices.
He’s the one who rises to the plate when people are looking for a leader, he’s the one to offer you wisdom and advice when needed, he’s the one who will happily come to save the princess from a dragon.
Sweet, but unendingly charismatic and strong. He is the diplomat, he is the leader, he is what the world of Toril needs. Sagittarius in his Sun and Jupiter, brings the philosophy and morality that Saturn has ingrained in him to life, breathing air into his spirit. His Capricorn moon allows him to speak to everyone, in a way where they will understand that he is being genuine, in tow with his philosophy’s being able to offer the wisdom that people reach for.
His Moon and Venus being in Libra, breathing a gentle lover, adn friend into existence who will strive for harmony, and helping to walk through problems.
Wyll Ravengard is a damn hero, and no matter where he goes, or what he does- he does it for the people because that’s what brings him joy.
Wrap Up: “Our winding paths lead to one certain end: victory.”
There you have it, our hero, Wyll Ravengard. Going through his parsed dialogue really helped me understand him on a much deeper level of a character (especially since I can see how all the different nodes relate back to certain texts). He is a really sweet guy, and there is so much more dialogue that I would’ve loved to include cause it made me either just break down in giggles, or just smile over how sweet he is.
He truly is too good of a man for this harsh world.
But stay tuned for next time, where we venture into our next character. I will be hosting a poll on Tumblr here in about a week to write for our next character- so keep your eyes out.
About the placements
Stay groovy, and I’ll catch you on the flip,
