Welcome to a Walk Through the Houses – Fourth House.
Here we are in the next section of this series. Going into a deep dive on the fourth house of the Twelve. Once again we are going to be covering the different planets and the signs throughout the house, and what that looks like. Through the different pros and cons that each carry. Then looking at how those pro’s and con’s can affect the people through their own path of life.
One thing that is still important to iterate is that when you are looking at the planets individually you need to take into consideration the sign that the planet is located in as well. That sign of the house is going to greatly affect how the planet expresses itself through the house. The sign and planet working in tandem to create a heavily focused area of life.

Fourth House

The fourth house is certainly a house that many look forward to or look for in their lives. This is where we find our stability, our homes. There’s so many different areas of life that are involved within the fourth house. Today we are going to be looking at the main components. Home and family roots. Where the signs excel within these areas, and where they can fall. Where they like to find their homes and the state of them, as well as how they enjoy to spend time within their family. How they find their safety and feel loved.
This is also known as the Imum Coeli and can lead to paths to help look for repetitive patterns, and the items that may keep you back from moving forward.
So let’s get in there and take a much closer look the fourth house.
The Signs and Planets
Aries and Mars

Aries
The ram does bring a more tempered version of Mars within the fourth house. They carry a drive and certain active energy to their homes that leads to a fairly warm environment that leads people to keep on their toes. Finding their stability, making sure that their home is coated within their own style and feels like a place that is catered to them.
With family they tend to want to bring their family with them on their own little side adventures. More than happy to indulge and having their family along for the ride. They like to feel out and active, and having their family with them brings a joy and comfort. However, as with Mars Aries is fairly impulsive, and impatient for life to happen. To get up and do things. So when family isn’t being so forth giving with their time and ability to join Aries, it can lead towards a harsher environment.
Mars
Mars the planet of action. When we are looking at Mars through the lens of the fourth house we find someone who takes absolute PRIDE in their home. They’re obsessed with doing their own projects. Preferring their place to be up to shape and running smoothly.
Looking towards the relational aspect, we find the undisputed leader of the home- or at least someone who feels more comfortable with the lead. Mars has incredible decisive energy, and one of the things that they favor is being able to ensure that they are following the plan they want to. However, that means that anyone in their household has to follow that same lead. As you can imagine this leads to arguments, and fights. Because Mars as always falters towards impulsiveness and not being able to keep it or their own anger in check.

Taurus and Venus

Taurus
One of the things with Taurus is their desire to be lavish and never be wanting for anything. This Venusian sign favors beauty and personal aesthetic. Tending towards the things that will make their home feel as though it came straight out of an interior design magazine.
Looking at their family, what you tend to see is someone who wants to be a strong support. They have this unending loyalty for their family that is incredibly hard to erode. Though as seen with Taurus, they’re very stubborn. They have a way that they like home, how they like their relationships within the home. Once that starts to change as all things tend to, it can lead toward an off put Taurus.
Venus
This is definitely a planet that is incredibly comfortable here. One of the things with Venus is that they like balance, harmony, and beauty. The main traits that we see repeated within the planet throughout different aspects. Taking Venus and putting it in the fourth house. One thing you’ll find is they try to beautify their home in as many different ways as possible. Similar to Taurus and Libra in that aspect. Wanting home to immediately feel breathtaking when you step in the door. It will typically follow the aesthetic of whatever sign is currently within this house.
This leads to loving relationships with family. Often taking the time to personalize care for loved ones. Oftentimes, catering to other people’s needs. This can often stem from the belief that if other people are happy, you are going to find your own stability. This can often lead to over indulgence to the family. The Venusian may avoid finding the balance again out of fear of losing the harmony they try to maintain.

Gemini and Mercury

Gemini
When you put Gemini in to the fourth house one of the main things that you see, is a person who fills it with items that actually connects them to their family and past. With Gemini they are naturally inquisitive. So what they tend to do, is learn and connect to their family in anyway they possibly can. They like to feel that connection and to learn as much as they possibly can about their roots.
Their homes and relationships within their homes tend to take on a very lively vibe. Gemini is that quick breeze of inspiration, so they will keep their home full of items that will stimulate that center of their head and keep things running quickly. This however, as it do, keeps things feeling uneasy. Especially for those who live within the home. It doesn’t feel like a place to rest or sit still. So it is one thing to take into consideration.
Mercury
One of the rising trends within Mercury is that like Virgo and Gemini, the planet tends to keep a very busy mind. They aren’t one for feelings, keeping most of those surface level and instead relating their emotions to where their memories are attached. For example, whereas Gemini will keep tabs on their family history. Mercury revels in it. Every family tradition becoming sentimental and important.
Though this obsession with the past and getting lost in things that are sentimental does a lot of holding back for Mercury in the fourth house. Their mind becomes wrapped up in trying to keep their lives from the past. To connect with their roots, and where they came from. It ends up holding them back and unable to develop and continue on as people.

Cancer and the Moon

Cancer
Welcome to the natural house ruler for the fourth house. Cancer belongs in the fourth house naturally. Within this house and position, Cancer, truly holds on to their family and their roots to their very core. Keeping those they care about close to the core. Their home is one that they usually try to make as comfortable as they possibly can. This is a place where you should feel like you can let your guard down.
Of course, while Cancer deeply cares for and about their family. A common challenge is their inability to let go. They want to horde as much as they can, and you can pry it from their cold dead claws. Lovely sentiment, however, it does get smothering. Meaning they need to learn how to let those they care for and the items they care about- breathe.
The Moon
So the Moon. Our other ruler. We see a lot of the energy that the moon lends to Cancer within the moon. However, there is one key difference. Whereas Cancer does enjoy making their space as comforting as possible. So does the Moon, but in the way of making it comfortable for other people. Ensuring the home doesn’t feel full of things to keep them feeling secure. Rather items, mementos, and meals that bring others to ease and let them feel at home.
They also bring a different hand when it comes to the things that hold them back. The moon lords over emotions much more deeply than Cancer does. They hold on to their family at an emotionally higher level. Knowing intuitively how their family might feel about certain past issues, or where drama may inlay within conversations. This can lead to moodiness or feeling off put when people bring up a not-so-great conversational topic.

Leo and the Sun

Leo
The bold and bright Leo, always taking center stage. Even within the fourth house. Their homes tend to be bolder and extravagant. Think maximalism, mixed with an undeniable warmth and vibrancy that Leo likes to spread.
There’s the desire to take over and lead the family as well. Leo enjoys being the head of the household or feeling like they have some kind of control of the goings on of the family. Oftentimes looking to host, or hold large family gatherings and celebrations for their loved ones. One of the bigger things that comes up as a challenge for them is always needing to have center stage. These celebrations for other people, or holding these gatherings- they might try to pull attention to the work that they had done instead of the celebration itself. Leo needs to learn the humility that comes with sharing the spotlight with others.
The Sun
Now- the Sun in this position takes on a little bit of a different role. The sun represents the individual what resides at their core. So the Sun being here means that their family and roots have been found to be incredibly important. Their home isn’t bright or flashy like Leo, but it is a place that they need to make feel like home to them at is their place to feel comforted and like themselves.
Similar to Leo though, they too feel like the head of the family, someone to take care of everyone else. Like Mercury they take a closer look to family traditions. Wanting to keep in touch with their roots as that is how they feel more like themselves. However, similarly to Mercury. They too can get lost within the expectations to take it upon themselves to feel connected to their roots.

Virgo

Virgo
Now for Virgo, having this placement here- almost feels like you were made to run the home. Virgo is a very meticulous sign. They like to pay attention to the smaller details throughout life. This makes them one of the perfect signs to be in this house. Oftentimes, able to keep up with the daily chores of their house and keep it feeling immaculate.
With Virgo keeping up with their day-to-day chores it doesn’t mean that they aren’t completing their acts of service for their family. It just becomes one of those things that is ingrained in their day to day life. Taking care of the people around them the best way that they can. Drawing them a bath, making dinner, maybe even straightening up their rooms. Small, simple things to let them know they are being taken care of. However, as always with Virgo, these tiny little things can build up over time. This can lead to being on edge and feeling overwhelmed, and even critical of all the things that are left to be accomplished.
Mercury is going to be found under the Gemini tab. So if you would like to read more about Virgo’s ruling planet you can find it there.

Libra

Libra
Now Libra isn’t too different from their sister sign Taurus. Libra likes to keep their home in tip-top shape and looking beautiful. However, it might just take on a different air. Instead of the luxury that is usually associated with Taurus, you are going to find elements that flow cohesively and speak to the Libra’s personal aesthetic. They love to keep their home beautified, they just want to make sure that all elements of it are flowing properly and can spark peace and ease mentally.
When you come to look with their family. They are the kind of person that likes to be the family mediator. They are the banker in monopoly, they are the Game Master when playing a tabletop game. Libra’s the rules lawyer in everything else. Doing their best to settle arguments and ensure that everyone is getting along. One of the things that Libra needs to remember is that conflict is essential and unavoidable. Because more often than not, especially with playing as a mediator all the time- Libra will try to avoid conflict.
If you would like to take a look at Venus, Libra’s ruling planet, you can read about it in the Taurus section.

Scorpio and Pluto

Scorpio
Let’s get into Scorpio. Scorpio likes to have a two way mirror up right? They can see the world, but no one can really see them, unless they get really close. It’s going to be filled with things that are important to them and them alone. They don’t care much about aesthetic or how it’s managed- it just works for their needs and pursuits.
Where Scorpio really comes into play with this house is how they look at the family. They are the ones wanting to go through and uncover any family secret’s- or get family members to reveal themselves. They’re the ones wanting to know if there is any cover-ups or drama. While also maintaining this deep loyalty for their family and wanting to protect it furiously. It’s easy for Scorpio to get really controlling over their family, and can want to dictate on behaviors. So it’s important to watch out for.
Pluto
Pluto similarly to Scorpio is more focused on the deeper side of things than anything related to how their home is decorated. Though dependent on what sign the Pluto finds themself in, you can probably get an idea of the personal things they like to keep close to them. For example if it is a Sagittarius Pluto, they might keep around tokens from adventures that they found life changing.
When Pluto looks to their family while they are trying to break secrets and find revelations. One of the main things that they try to do as well is reform those bonds back stronger. They look at pain, and suffering that’s been endured, and try to rebuild something back as healthier. Though there can be incessant struggle and obsession over trying to form these new bonds and trying to make something come back anew.

Sagittarius and Jupiter

Sagittarius
The archer, as we’ve covered, isn’t one that likes to be held back. They are the ones that want to shoot themselves into the unknown and explore. However, Sagittarius likes to use their home as more of a base. Making it a place to keep their tokens that they have gained over the years. It essentially becomes a little shrine for their adventures and a good spot to rest if they find themselves back in the area.
They also tend to pull the fun, detached person from the family (though still pretty involved). Sagittarius likes to find little trinkets and gifts for their family. They try to stay optimistic and keep the vibes going strong. Though this can lead to, as I said, a very detached person. Sagittarius might not have the closest relationships with their family because they aren’t home as much.
Jupiter
Jupiter is always coming in with the luck of the draw it seems. When it comes down to it ones of Jupiter’s traits more often than not is they get lucky or find fortune where they don’t expect it. If you find your Jupiter to be placed within the fourth house you are more than likely to have really close familial relationships. You also may be learning how to benefit financially through properties and homes. Expanding your life through real estate.
As I said this is one of those placements where you just kind of click with family members. A bond between a Jupiter in the fourth house and those that surround them, feels like those relationships where you just can’t get enough. On the other hand as is always a trait within Jupiter excess and going overboard is a trend so individuals with this placement need to be wary of being taken for granted.

Capricorn and Saturn

Capricorn
Now, naturally this isn’t where Capricorn feels the most at home. Typically, Capricorn prefers to be working outside of the home in order to build the foundation for the rest of their and their families lives. Home to them often feels as though its not a place they can truly relax, especially when they feel as though there is always more that they could be doing.
This often breeds the environment to Capricorn taking on a role as a disciplinarian. Often wanting home to feel secured. They want to take on the harsh aspects of life so no one else has to worry, they want to be the protector. They plan for the future college funds and the like. Though one of their main struggles will always be that they can’t relax. Feeling as if they need to apologize if they aren’t doing something “useful”.
Saturn
The joy of all joys. If you find your Saturn here you might feel as though everything in your life needs to follow a very strict routine. Usually in tune with whatever sign is in the house. There is routines and structure to follow, and if you don’t then how can you expect yourself to relax at home? Saturn looks towards tradition and ensuring that the family operates as the family always has without any change from the past.
That isn’t to say that Saturn isn’t dedicated to their family. They are. Wanting to ensure that their family is well taken care of. Doing whatever is in their power to ensure that everything is taken care of, and that strong roots have been laid for the protection of their family. They’re hardworking and persistent. Yet, Saturn makes the home feel heavy, and you may have strained relationships because of adding too much pressure.

Aquarius and Uranus

Aquarius
Here we go with Aquarius. Aquarius is so outlandish when it comes to their personal decorating style in their home. There isn’t any rhyme or reason beyond “well, I like it. “. Another thing that Aquarius tends to do, is deck their home out in technologies and different innovations that make life go smoother. Probably keeping an eye out in the kitchen appliances sections for new ways to make their dinner.
Aquarius within this placement is more likely to be accepting of all the different facts and figures that they see within their lives. Loving their family unconditionally, and encouraging themselves to be authentic. Never wanting anyone to hide behind labels that they feel they need to survive. Though as always with Aquarius it’s important that they rope themselves in every once in awhile, as they can often detach themself from what’s “real”, and forget to check in with their family.
Uranus
I’m almost sure has never felt grounded to anyone with this placement. Uranus with the fourth house brings about change and instability. So one of the key factors that you might see often is the family and home getting uprooted. Maybe moving around often, or just having multiple unexpected things happening within relatively short periods of time. So it’s a good time to go with the flow because you aren’t getting peace anytime soon.
Typically when you are looking at familial relationships within Uranus, you find them being very similar to Aquarius. Really open-minded and forward thinking about where a family member can lead with their identity. Oftentimes, helping them to innovate different ways of pursuing different dreams or desires. Though that instability that was mentioned earlier can carry through to relationships as well. Where you might be the one who is detaching and not being the constant force that some people need. An important behavior to keep in mind for one’s self.

Pisces and Neptune

Pisces
I think whereas the last few sign’s didn’t really appreciate home for what it is, Pisces really takes the cake in wrapping up the circle. You see when it comes to Pisces home becomes a much more easy, and calm place to be. Often carrying on the dream like quality often seen within the fish. They make their home a place where they can think and explore different possibilities and hope not to avoid any rougher emotions gained throughout the day.
When it comes to family, Pisces is definitely a proponent of speaking your feelings, and your mind. Helping family members come to term with different underlying emotions or feeling out parts of themselves that they dared not to. Though that can also be one of Pisces’ biggest downsides. Often giving themselves up to focus on their family, instead of recognizing their own emotions. Leading to finding ways to hide from feeling alone.
Neptune
Neptune is one of the placements within the planets that wants to make their home a true place of peace. Often idealizing every last aspect of their home and how they might improve upon it. Their pinterest boards going as far as they eye can see. often times they will fill their home with the arts, and the very things that inspire them on the day to day, and then will build around that.
When it comes to family they are incredibly nourishing when it comes to creativity, and imagination. Especially in the areas of the sign that it is found within. Neptune will also oftentimes find themselves being overly forgiving and sympathetic to those around them wanting to craft a safe environment for people to express themselves. Though like Pisces oftentimes has a hard time setting boundaries and can bite off more than they can chew when it comes to their own emotions.

Wrap Up: A Walk Through the Signs – Fourth House
There we have it for a Walk Through the Signs – Fourth House. The Fourth house is one of my favorites, because it’s one of those things where everyone has their own way of showing how their signs or planets manifests. Whether we find it in our own families, or within friends. On the other hand we can find our stability and comfort within ourselves. It’s certainly one of those houses that plays such an important role in looking at the day to day and how we build our lives.
But that wraps it up for the Fourth House, stay tuned for next time when we go to cover the Fifth house.
Stay groovy, and I’ll catch you on the flip,
